A bright white light.
During my exhibition last summer at the gallery follow your aWhen I was at Kapsali, I spent most evenings at the gallery so I could get to know the visitors personally. I like being there and talking with the public. I have nothing to hide, no secrets.
Throughout the day, I would wander around the wider area with my stool and my supplies, painting whatever I saw, often in quiet spots, not too far from the places where most tourists hang out. I could almost always hear the echoes from the taverns and the swimmers down by the shore.
Perhaps what comes to mind is the bright light reflected off the white walls that glow when someone is painting with watercolors, since white paint is not used in this technique. The brightest element is the paper itself, so you have to use the available light sparingly.
I found peace and quiet in many of the small chapels scattered around Kapsali, perched on the cliffs, as well as in the shade provided by the pine groves, as I watched from afar the activities of the vacationers among the umbrellas and lounge chairs. Out at sea, the lighthouse stood like a sentinel against the increasingly turbulent world of early October 2023.
I’ve traveled a long way to experience the light and warmth of the Mediterranean. And here I am, with a few of the watercolors I painted during that time, which I think are worth seeing.
Let there be light, then.

A bright white light.
When I had an exhibition last summer at the Follow Your Art Gallery in Kapsali, I spent most of my evenings at the gallery meeting with visitors. I like to be there in person and talk to the audience. I have nothing to hide, no secrets. During the day, I wandered around the area with my stool and my supplies and painted what I saw, often in quiet spots, not too far from the places where most tourists gather. I could almost always hear the buzz from the taverns and the swimmers on the shore.

Perhaps you are reminded of the intense light reflected off all the white walls that shine in your face when you paint with watercolors, because it is a technique that does not use white paint. The brightest element you have is the paper itself, so you must learn to make the most of the available light.
I found peace and quiet at several of the small chapels scattered around Kapsali, clinging to the rocks or nestled in the shade of small pine groves, watching over the comings and goings of the fortune seekers among the beach umbrellas and deck chairs far below us. Out at sea, the lighthouse stood, keeping watch against an increasingly troubled outside world, in early October 2023.
I have traveled a long way to experience the light and warmth of the Mediterranean, and it has taken a long time. But here I am, with some of the watercolors that came out of that experience, which I thought were worth seeing.
So let there be light.
