In the informative show «Connections» of ERT, hosted by Kostas Papachlimintzos and Katerina Doukas, the Deputy Mayor of Kythera Tourism, Mrs. Stamatina Varda, presented all the critical details of the financial support program Kythira Pass, whose platform has closed the application cycle.
As the Deputy Mayor explained, the Kythira Pass was introduced as a government emergency support measure. This was triggered by the devastating fires of July 2025, which affected about 10% of the total area of the island. After a meeting of the Mayor of Kythera, Mr. Harhalakis, with the Prime Minister, it was decided to take this financial measure to immediately stimulate the local economy during this year's tourist season.
Regarding this season's traffic, Ms. Varda noted that it was a relatively difficult year. However, she explained that bookings for the summer months are progressing normally, with August already showing extremely high occupancy rates in hotels, rooms to let and Airbnb accommodation.
