On Wednesday 5 October 2022 at the Kytheraiko Association Hall, in Chora of Kythera, at 18:30-21:30, the presentation of the educational programme will take place. «Kythira: Stories that build bridges» which was implemented in the school years 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 by the 6ο Regional Centre for Educational Planning of Attica in collaboration with students and teachers of Kythera Primary and Secondary Education, and with the support of the Kytheraic Association of Athens and the Nicholas Anthony Aroney Endowment.
The educational programme «Kythera: Stories that build bridges» is a biographical approach to the migration history of Kythera, an intergenerational and intercultural research of the history of the migration of Kytherians and aims to build an archive of memory by honouring those people who, starting from Kythera with different dreams and under different circumstances, took part in the difficult journey of migration to Australia.
The personal stories of the Kytherians that emerged in the context of the programme and together with the documents that each family has preserved, will be presented at the event. Specifically, eight interviews will be presented, interspersed with student activities that were carried out based on this material. In the near future, the interviews will be made available to all interested parties on a digital platform.
The event is dedicated to the memory of our colleague Anastasia Messaris, Coordinator of the Educational Project of Philologists.
