The debate on the recycling and garbage collection has been opened with the participation of all relevant authorities and many citizens interested in the issue.
Very interesting and the intervention of the Secretary-General of the Municipality of Kythera Euphrosyne Kasimatis. But the questions remain:
- If now, in April, due to an illness, there is an inability to collect the garbage, what will happen in the heart of the tourist season that will have to handle multiple volumes?;
- If the cleaning staff is not enough, who is to blame and what actions have been taken to fill the gaps?;
It should be pointed out to Ms Kasimatis that recycling is not a matter of philosophy as he comments, but an obligation of each OTA and is in line with the National and European Legislation.. The institutional position of Secretary General of the Municipality requires seriousness and knowledge, and shall include in particular duties and responsibilities governed by the local government laws.
Finally, Mrs Kasimatis should be aware that public activities, such as rubbish collection, are not covered by any kind of confidentiality and may be filmed. Even more so when they reveal issues of social and journalistic interest, such as environmental protection through (non-)recycling... The days of superstitious censorship are (hopefully) gone...
