Great performance by the Alkis Kynigakis in the struggle of 10 km open water (Marathon Swimming), with the Greek swimmer covering the distance in 1:49:29.2, taking fifth place in his first Olympics!
The 22-year-old, in fact, recorded a better time at Odaiba Marine Park than the 2:02.12 that had earned him a place in the Tokyo Olympics, finally celebrating a place in the top eight.
The gold medal was awarded to Germany's Florian Velbrock (1:48:33.7), the silver to Kristof Rasovski (Hungary, +25.3) and the bronze to Gregorio Paletrinieri (Italy, +27.4).
