The number of new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours is 17,662, of which 53 were identified following screenings at the country’s entry points. The total number of cases stands at 2,002,206 (daily change +0.9%), of which 49.8% are men. Based on confirmed cases over the past 7 days, 412 are considered travel-related, and 2,472 are linked to a previously known case.
There were 106 new deaths among COVID-19 patients, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 23,833. 95.11% of the patients had an underlying medical condition and/or were 70 years of age or older.
The number of patients hospitalized and intubated is 568 (61.3% men). Their median age is 66 years. 83.3% have an underlying medical condition and/or are 70 years of age or older. Among the patients currently hospitalized and on mechanical ventilation, 444 (78.17%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 124 (21.83%) are fully vaccinated. Since the start of the pandemic, 4,071 patients have been discharged from ICUs. Admissions of new COVID-19 patients to hospitals nationwide total 547 (daily change: +4,99%). The seven-day average of admissions is 473 patients. The median age of confirmed cases is 35 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of deaths is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
