With the country hit by the wave of bad weather, the pandemic is also showing its teeth as the total number of deaths is approaching 23,000 and today it has exceeded 22,700 deaths.
The problems are exacerbated as the extreme weather conditions make it impossible for health workers to move.
The president of PDEDIN even complains that while they knew about the bad weather there was no operational plan for the movement of staff. At the same time, vaccinations have been postponed, while PDEDIN is calling for the Penteli Children's Hospital to resume on-call duty.
The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 19,075, of which 62 were detected following checks at the country's entry gates. The total number of cases is 1,812,384 (daily change +1.1%), of which 49.8% are males.
Based on the confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 416 are considered to be associated with travel from abroad and 2,079 are associated with an already known case.
The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 111, with a total of 22,748 deaths recorded since the start of the epidemic. 95.0% had underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older.
The number of patients hospitalized intubated is 655 (59.2% men). Their median age is 66 years. 82.0% have an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older. Among intubated patients, 520 (79.39%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 135 (20.61%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,980 patients have been discharged from ICUs.
The admissions of new Covid-19 patients to hospitals in the territory are 465 (daily change +9.93%). The seven-day average admission is 490 patients.The median age of cases is 35 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of deaths is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
