In Holy Pilgrimage of the Panagia Myrtidiotissa in Myrtidia Kythera was held on Sunday 18 January 2026 divine service and the cutting of the New Year's cake, in the presence of representatives of the local government and citizens.
The event was organized on the initiative of the Chairman of the Property Committee of Kythera and Antikythera, Evangelos Venardos. In the context of the event, honor was paid to citizens who, during the fire of last July, contributed decisively to the rescue of the Holy Shrine from the danger of destruction.
The New Year's cake was blessed by Fr. Pavlos Dimitrakopoulos, who ministers the Pilgrimage. This was followed by an exchange of greetings with residents and pilgrims who, as it was pointed out, support the operation and needs of Panagia Myrtidiotissa throughout the years.
The event was attended by, among others, the Mayor of Kythera Eustratios Charhalakis, as well as representatives of institutions and fellow citizens. The initiative was characterized as an act of recognition of the contribution of those who contributed to the protection of the shrine.
