Seven people died and seven others were injured in a road accident that occurred at 12.20 after midnight, near Iasmos Rodopi, with a private car carrying immigrants, as was made known by Police.
The fatal accident occurred when the vehicle, under circumstances under investigation, crashed hard into a side toll station of the Egnatia Highway. The fire brigade was called to the scene to rescue the passengers. The injured were taken from stations of the EKAV and were taken to hospitals in the area.
The identity of the dead has not been released at this time, while the police estimate that they were illegal transport of migrants to the mainland.
