The opposition party accuses the government of failing to include specific codes of olive trees in the support measures for the country's olive sector, resulting in whole regions being excluded.
The announcement of the Agricultural Policy Sector of the Movement for Change:
«Even in this critical period for our country, where the entire Greek people are suffering in various ways from the consequences of the pandemic, we are witnessing the sloppiness with which the government is planning and dealing with the crisis.
This time the victim is the rural world, which is suffocatingly waiting for a helping hand. An entire sector which has so far received zero support.
So we saw the Minister engage in a communicative barrage of announcements and statements about the notorious support of the country's olive sector, but in the end it turned out that he failed to include in the decision of the beneficiaries specific codes of oil-producing olives, resulting in entire regions such as Mytilene, Thassos and a large part of Central Greece, a total of about 300,000 acres of olive cultivation, to be excluded from this measure.
The mockery has no end, as the Movement for Change we ask immediately to include these codes in the beneficiaries of the measure, thus restoring the injustice created by the government.
Also, the government's misguided actions cannot lead to solutions of the type of reducing the budget corresponding to each producer to cover the error.
Finding the extra resources is the least it can do as a sign of minimum seriousness towards the suffering rural world.»
