A new complaint has come to light about the tragic conditions under which workers in the tourism sector are forced to live and work.
Low pay and poor working and living conditions have driven thousands of seasonal workers away from the industry, some of them living a nightmare trying to work away from home.
A girl who had gone to work in Mykonos described (OPEN) in dark colours what she had experienced in the previous years.
«It was the worst experience I have ever had. The rooms were too small, with 2-3 people living in them, with a lot of humidity, with a lot of mold and cockroaches flying around. I was taking a shower and cleaning the mold off of me with velcro. The room may not have had air conditioning in the unbearable heat. I had to buy a dehumidifier in the middle of the season» were the first things she confided to the TV lens.
Another issue he raised was nutrition. «They promise you two or three meals a day and as soon as you face reality you are forced to eat outside,» the girl said.
This is not the first incident
Recently, speaking to mykonoslive.tv, another worker described what she experienced when she worked on the island during the summer.
The room provided by the company was in a miserable state. She had to stay in a cave house with the furniture eaten away by rats, and with three male colleagues. She slept in her car for three months and bathed in the beach showers some of the things she had complained about.
