After the episodic meeting of the City Council (17th extraordinary), which was marred by the grave the charges of the major opposition to the Chairman of the Board Mr. Emmanuel Stathis for “dictatorship” procedures” in the conduct of the teleconference, the Municipality of Kythera issued a statement according to which unanimously approved the establishment of the two-seat special primary school in Kythera. Thus, it is launched from the September 2021, which will reportedly be housed in a municipal building (former school building) of Aroniadika. It was previously recommendation from the Directorate of A' Primary Education Piraeus and The Municipality of Kythera responded and proceeded with the procedures, putting to a vote in the City Council the establishment of the school. According to reports, the administration of the Municipality has already included in the 2021 draft budget the costs for the preparation of the school facility. A special primary school is established in Kythera
By emergency meeting, held via real-time teleconference using email, unanimously approved by the Municipal Council the establishment of a two-seat Special Primary School in Kythera, from the school year 2021-22. The establishment of the new Primary School was a constant request of our Municipal Authority since 2015, as the number of primary school students with learning difficulties is significant. With the establishment of the Special Board, the existence of a substantial social policy on our island is proven in practice, as the new school will be attended by students from many families, who face learning difficulties, such as (indicatively) autism, dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyscalculia, developmental aphasia, speech and language difficulties - language disorders, visual-motor disorders, hearing impairment, borderline intelligence, behavioural disorders etc.
The costs of housing and operation of the new Board will be borne by our Municipality through the Primary Education School Committee.
In the emergency meeting of the Board participated in real time the nine councillors of the Co-opposition and on behalf of the Opposition only Mr. Panagopoulos Dimitrios, who most of his own (positive) vote sent and the votes of councillors of the combination of the combination, which however are not considered valid as at meetings of the collective bodies by videoconference, each member shall indicate his/her presence, vote and any position in person and in real time (real time) and not by proxy (as may happen in the meetings for which the Opposition has objected), as also mentioned in the information document number 4019/28-09-2020 of the Office of the Chairman of the Board of Directors to all elected officials of our Municipality..
