The song «We will never find Kythera» became a timeless symbol of nostalgia and search, while its creator - George Katsaros, 91 years old today - has found its place in the pantheon of Greek music for decades. The Wednesday 11 June 2025, the Paleo Faliro honored the great Greek conductor and composer with a unique event by the sea, in his favorite neighborhood, where he used to walk, accompanied by... saxophone and memories.
On the occasion of the first full moon of summer, an evening of emotion and honour was set up at the gazebo next to the statue of Constantine Palaiologos, with Katsaros himself, present and visibly moved. His work came to life before his eyes: three musicians per kiosk filled the seaside with his melodies, while top voices of the Greek pedagram sang his favourite hits under the moonlight.
The artistic coordination and orchestration of the evening was by Theodore Dharma, which highlighted with respect and accuracy the rich musical footprint of Katsaros. From cinematic themes to folk gems, Katsaros' sound crossed the seaside promenade of Faliro, touching thousands of hearts.
Kythera may remain elusive for some, but the music of Giorgos Katsaros unites us, travels us and - most importantly - is always here. In every nostalgic melody, in every Greek summer, in every walk by the sea. A living legend was honoured as he deserves: with light, music and love.
