With ten bullets, two of which struck him in the head, the killers executed journalist Giorgos Karaivaz, the killers shot him yesterday at noon outside his home in Alimos, according to the results of the autopsy conducted at the University of Athens.
The autopsy was performed by Chara Spiliopoulou, a professor of forensic medicine at the University of Athens, who this afternoon submitted the relevant report to officers from the Homicide Division of the Attica Security Department, who are investigating the case.
According to the report, the journalist sustained a total of ten wounds from 9-millimeter bullets, six of which were to the chest, one in the neck, one in the right palm—apparently the result of an instinctive movement to protect himself from his assailant—and two wounds to the head.
According to the report, the head injuries were sustained last, which is confirmed by testimony from the crime scene stating that, before leaving, the killer shot the victim—who was lying on the sidewalk—in the head, delivering the coup de grâce.
According to reports, police have obtained video footage from a camera that they are examining, while the journalist’s phone and computer, as well as the articles he has recently written for the website bloko.gr, which he owned and managed, in order to identify clues that could shed light on the motive for the crime.
