Firefighters on Lemnos have been battling the flames since this afternoon, as three fires broke out shortly after 5 p.m. within a short period of time. Specifically, the fires, which are burning grassland areas, are located in the regions of Atsiki, Dafnes, and Sardes.
Twenty-five firefighters with eight vehicles are on the scene, while water tankers and Army heavy equipment are providing support. According to the Fire Department, strong winds are blowing in the area, but so far the fires do not pose a threat to settlements.
