Repeat of the scene of last July in Aegean Sea, with hundreds of Turkish fishing boats having reached as far as Kythera! Since yesterday, information has been coming in about the “exit of the Turkish fishing fleet”, which is fully modernised and is being used by Ankara as another means of pressure. The Turkish fishing boats are in areas of Greek interests. It is something that is done systematically without the Turks feeling any particular pressure. In the last 24 hours, however, their presence has become massive.
It should be recalled that in July, a few days after the departure of the Turkish fishing boats, the Turkish fleet left. It does not mean that the same will happen now. However, someone should explain to us whether we have already accepted fait accompli in the Aegean and to remind that Greek interests are not about gas and oil but also about fishing. Perhaps especially with that which is the tangible significant economic activity.
