An important action for the regeneration of the natural environment in Mylopotamos Kythera starts on Sunday 30 November 2025, with initiative of the Committee for the Renaissance of Mylopotamos (EDAM) and the support of Association of Public Benefit Projects of Mylopotamos (SKEM). COMMUNICATION TO LOCAL AND SCIENTIFIC BODIES
Dear friends,
I inform you that on Sunday 30 November 2025 at 9am, the Committee for the Regeneration of Mylopotamos (EDAM) will organize and carry out the first ornamental tree planting in Mylopotamos, after the devastating fire of the summer and in accordance with the decisions taken at the General Assembly of the Local Community, last September.
The meeting point is the Community café in PLATANOS.
The new saplings, selected on the instructions of the Agronomist Mr. Thanasis Samios, are to be planted in the roadside areas on the road Pavilion Dokana-Araeus-Household School, in places that do not involve private property.
Probably the whole action will be accompanied by limited felling of burnt trees, in places that pose a risk to public safety.
Also, the action is to continue for the next 3-4 working days, depending on the progress of the work.
We hope for your support and the participation of a sufficient number of volunteers, in order to help what Nature has already begun to create, namely the revegetation of the area, which was so brutally affected by the firestorm.
