An allowance of €534: Payment dates for December suspensions

On the basis of the current schedule, the payment of the special purpose compensation, namely an allowance of EUR 534, for the thousands of workers put on suspension of a labour contract in December. The payment is expected to be made by early next week and most likely over the weekend of Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 January, as announced. However, it is not excluded that the process will start today, Friday afternoon.

In any case, payment is expected to be completed by next Tuesday 12 January, for all those who have completed the procedure of the suspension declarations. Recall that the suspension declarations by employers and employees were submitted, after a 5-day extension, until last Tuesday, January 5, a day after the government reshuffle.

Unlike in November, the declaration procedure followed this time was common for workers of closed and affected enterprises. The payment is expected to be equally common. As long as the payment process starts next Monday afternoon, payments will be available to workers in stages until the morning of Tuesday 12 January.

The compensation of each worker depends on the days of suspension. For each day of suspension, the employee is compensated by the State at EUR 17,8. As had happened in November, businesses with an ID that within December, for a certain period of time were affected and for the rest of the month were closed by state order, had to have submitted a separate form - suspension statement for each category.

New opportunity for suspension declarations

Meanwhile, yesterday the Ministry of Labor announced that there is a new opportunity for October, November and December suspension declarations only for employees for whom no declaration has been submitted and for correct recurrences only to increase the suspension intervals of employment contracts.

In particular, statutory declarations and correct returns for October can be submitted from yesterday, Thursday 7 January, until Monday 11 January. Similarly, for the last declarations for November, the «Ergani» opens from 12 to 14 January. Exceptionally for the month of November, those businesses - employers who incorrectly submitted their personnel data on the Special Form for the declaration of the withdrawal of suspension are given the opportunity to make a correct repetition from 12 to 14 January. A new opportunity is also given for the declaration of December suspensions from 15 to 18 January.

It is reminded that after the declaration of the suspension by the company in «Ergani», employees who have previously submitted a declaration are not required to make a new declaration unless they wish to modify their details (e.g. IBAN). Only employees whose employment contract is suspended for the first time are required to submit the declaration.

At the same time, a unilateral declaration can be submitted by art and culture professionals, tour guides and tourist guides. In particular, from 07/1/2021 to 15/1/2021, art and culture professionals registered on the special platform artandcultureprofessionals.services.gov.gr until 20/10/2020, as well as tour guides and tourist escorts, who are beneficiaries of the special purpose compensation may make unilateral statements for the months of September and October.

Christmas gift

In the meantime, in addition to the special purpose allowance, the tenants who have a suspension period in December will receive in January a second part of the Christmas gift by the state. This is the proportion of the suspension from 1 to 31 December. It is recalled that on 21 December the State paid 1,060,434 workers the portion of the Gratuity attributable to the period of suspension of an employment contract for the period from 1 May to 30 November.

One-off allowance to scientists

For January, the payment of the payment of the special one-off allowance scientists, i.e. doctors, dentists, lawyers, engineers, engineers, contractors, geotechnicians, bailiffs, economists. Only those who have been included between the months of March-November 2020 in the affected Activity Code Numbers (ACNs) of the Ministry of Finance, due to the measures taken to deal with the pandemic of the COVID-19 coronavirus, are entitled to the one-off financial support.

Retroactive payments to heirs

During the first 20 days of January, the first payment of the retroactive payments to heirs is expected to be made. The heirs of deceased pensioners - who were entitled to retroactive payments - who have submitted the online application and attached the supporting documents, are expected to receive by 20 January the retroactive payments to which they are entitled according to their inheritance rights.
