An unknown aspect of the case of the fatal wounding of the policeman, George Liggeridis, sheds light on a report by a platoon leader of the riot police in a wide-ranging meeting that had taken place after the sad attack outside the closed gymnasium of Renti.
According to iEidiseis, during the meeting, which was held on the 7th floor of the Ministry of Citizen Protection on Katehaki Avenue, the platoon leader protested in a very strong tone about the fact that some of his colleagues (who are not members of the riot police) let suspects leave the stadium without being checked, while 31-year-old George Liggeridis was fighting to keep himself alive.
This platoon leader allegedly claimed, in the presence of many senior and senior officers of the Hellenic Police and officials of Katehaki Avenue, that while the Police were sealing the stadium in order to make the arrests and find the suspects, some police officers let fans leave, using the logic «let him go, he is mine».
Both the physical and the -outgoing- political leadership of the EL.AS have knowledge of the strong protest of the platoon leader of the riot police, while this complaint is now the subject of investigation in the context of the ongoing investigation and the criminal file that is being formed.
More specifically, according to iEidiseis, in the next few days, the police officer who made the complaint during the meeting in Katehaki Avenue is expected to be called to testify, as well as other colleagues who were present and may have «insight» into what happened. If the investigation reveals any responsibility against police officers who may have allowed fans to leave the stadium without being checked, then both the Public Prosecutor and the Internal Affairs Directorate will be informed.
Another «hearing» that is known to the EL.AS. and will be investigated for whether or not it is true or not concerns information, according to which there were fans who attempted to leave the stadium pretending to be members of a sports delegation. For this reason, according to the information under investigation, they were wearing certain shirts.
