Health workers who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus by 31 March will not be allowed to provide services in the health system, announced the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris on Monday morning.
«The position of the Minister of Health and his recommendation is that those who have not been vaccinated from March 31 onwards should not be left only with the part of the suspension of work, but they will not be able to provide their services in the NHS,» Plevris stressed, speaking on SKAI television.
«If my recommendation is accepted, (the doctor) will lack a formal qualification to provide the service, if there is no such formal qualification, automatically no question of dismissal, puts himself out of the NHS,» explained Thanos Plevris.
«Those health workers who have not been vaccinated (have not done the two doses) remain suspended till March 31, and by then there will be a comprehensive arrangement whether vaccination beyond the pandemic should be done on a compulsory basis to health workers on whether or not they remain in the system. Those who have not done the booster dose there is no provision in the county nor is it the intention to link it with suspension,» the health minister said.
«The key element of vaccination is to have completed your vaccination (first and second dose). The law says that if you haven't done the first and second dose you are put on probation and it hasn't changed,» he concluded.
