Marianna Vardinoyannis, who had been hospitalised in a private hospital for some time, has died at the age of 80.
According to reports, her health had deteriorated to an extreme degree with her being on life support.
Mrs Vardinoyannis was a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and an activist for children's and family rights and against sexual abuse of children. In 2020 she was awarded the Nelson Mandela Prize.
He also worked as: Board Member. Board of Directors of the Library of Alexandria, the International Women's Movement for Peace, the International Centre for Lost and Abused Children (ICMEC), the Mentor Foundation against drugs, Founding member of the «Light of Africa» Foundation headed by His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria, Member of the Presidential Council of «Special Olympics Europe-Eurasia», etc.
