The award-winning author died Vassilis Vassilikos at the age of 89. According to UNESCO data, he is one of the ten most translated Greek writers.
From 1967 to 1994, Vassilis Vassilikos lived and worked abroad (Italy, France, New York for the first seven years in exile from the junta), with a three-year break (1981-1984), during which he took over as Deputy Director General of E.R.T. during the government of Andreas Papandreou.
He worked as an assistant director in foreign productions, documentary director, scriptwriter, script editor (Dr.), script consultant at Arte (1990-1993), journalist and writer. He collaborated with Nikos Koundouros on the screenplay of the film Little Aphrodites. He was Greek Ambassador to UNESCO (1996-2004).
Vassilis Vassilikos headed the state election ticket of the Greens - Democratic Left electoral coalition in the 2015 parliamentary elections, as well as in the 2019 parliamentary elections, but this time with SYRIZA - Progressive Alliance, where he was elected. He was a Member of State from 7 July 2019 until 21 May 2023.
