The National Meteorological Service (EMY) warns of intense instability in central and northern Greece, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours, the next three days, with heavy rains and thunderstorms, accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and in some places by hailstorms, with an emergency weather bulletin issued a short while ago.
According to the National Weather Service, the strong phenomena will peak on Sunday (14-8-2022), while on Monday (15 August) the weather is expected to be improved.
In more detail, EMY predicts:
Tomorrow Friday (12-8-2022) heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast from early in central Macedonia and from midday in western Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly and western and central Sterea (mainly in Aitoloakarnania and Evritania). The phenomena will weaken in the evening.
On Saturday (13-8-2022) heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast in Macedonia, Thessaly and the Ionian Sea. Severe phenomena in Macedonia will continue overnight into Sunday.
On Sunday (14-8-2022), heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast in Thessaly, central and eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Sporades, eastern Sterea (including Attica), Evia and the northeastern Aegean. During the night towards Monday, strong phenomena will be limited in northeastern Greece (Thrace and the northeastern Aegean), while in all other areas the weather will improve.
