By decision of the Mayor of Kythera sent for publication in the Government Gazette, Ms Efrosini (Froso) Kasimatis of Demetrios was appointed to the post of Secretary General of the Municipality. The new Secretary General was born in 1973 and is a graduate of the School of Economics and Political Sciences (Department of Public Administration) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has been an employee of the Kythera Development Company (1999-2009) and a local correspondent of the Employment Agency (2001-2009). Since July 2009 until today she has been a permanent administrative employee of the branch of Administrative-Accounting at the General Hospital of Kythera «Trifyllion». She has been trained in a series of seminars on public administration and planning, public procurement and public accounting. He speaks English and is the President of the Board of the «KEYTHOS» choir. She is married to the mathematician Manolis Kalligeros and they have 2 children.
The position of Secretary General of the Municipality is extremely important, as the SG is the head of all staff immediately after the Mayor and has key administrative and organisational responsibilities. The first Secretary General of our Municipality was for a few months Mrs. Kasimatis Katerina of Ioannis, who resigned for personal reasons, having organized important administrative actions that will be continued by the new Secretary General.
Until 2020, only municipalities with a population of more than 20,000 inhabitants were entitled to a post of temporary Secretary General. However, after continuous interventions and requests from both the KEDE and many Municipalities, the entire Municipalities of the country were given the opportunity to hire a Secretary General, regardless of size and population, based on Article 11 par. 6 of Law 4674/2020, in order to perform their work more effectively and organize their services better.
