With a legislative provision being put forward for voting in the Parliament, the opportunity is given to farmers who have unregulated debts to the EFKA and therefore are not entitled to insurance capacity, they may exceptionally receive it for one year, regardless of their debts.
This will happen if they have paid within 2021 or pay within 2022 retroactively for the year 2021, the amount corresponding to the annual contribution for benefits in kind and in cash.
This amount is calculated as twelve times the monthly insurance category for benefits in kind and in cash, which they had chosen for the year 2021.
This option is provided on an exceptional basis and only once, as from March 1, 2023, the regime that has always been in force will apply, which provides for the providing insurance coverage to self-employed individuals who are not liable for contributions or those who have settled debts. The method of payment of this amount for those who have not already covered it with their contributions will be specified in a later announcement by the Agency.
It should be clarified that insurance eligibility concerns the right to access medical care. However, even if a citizen does not have insurance eligibility from the EFKA, there is relevant health coverage based on the rules of the Ministry of Health.
EFKA also emphasizes that farmers who have paid their debts to KEAO in full but whose payments have not yet appeared in the system and whose insurance eligibility has therefore not been digitally confirmed they can visit their local branch by making an appointment online and immediately obtain insurance eligibility.
At the same time, in order to protect vulnerable social groups, the following is extended without conditions (until February 28, 2023) the insurance capacity of former OGA insured persons who have debts from overdue insurance contributions, provided that a decision has been issued by the competent financial hardship committees and for as long as specified in that decision.
