«Good evening to all
The pandemic does not discriminate. The Monday 24-1-2022 it was found that the colleague serving at the Airport Control Tower (ATC) was positive for Covid 19.
By order of the Governor of the General Hospital of Kythera, Mr. Megalokonomou, the hospital was rechecked and the positivity of the case was confirmed. The colleague was isolated for the prescribed period of time and will return to duty after a molecular test.
The airport applying the sanitary protocol of our Service (Y.P.A.), after the detection of the outbreak, closed from the 19:30 of 24of January until 19:30 of the 25th of Januaryof January. Fortunately, the closure of the Airport coincided with the cancellation of Monday's flight due to extreme weather conditions and Tuesday's flight cancellation due to the non-existence of a flight, so there was no impact on the movement of passengers.
From today Wednesday 26η January 2022 the airport is operating normally. For its safe operation, a thorough disinfection was carried out, using one of the two disinfections that the former Airport Manager, Mr.S. Paizanos, had foreseen to keep from those of 2020, in case of a possible outbreak. The disinfection was carried out with great willingness and voluntarily, by Mr. G. Paisjan, the Kytherios. Karydis, trained in the application with a nebulizer, contributing to the safe operation of the Airport. The uninterrupted operation of the Airport is also due to the return of our colleague Mr. S. Kaltourmidis, who, although he had left the Airport on Sunday 23η January 2022, due to the expiration of his secondment, he returned, and even at his own expense, to immediately take up duty at the Airport's P.E.A.
With respect
Anthony A. Papadopoulos
