With an extremely interesting symposium entitled «From Kythera to Piraeus», the Kytheraik Brotherhood of Piraeus - Athens and the Kytheraic Studies Society, in cooperation with the Cultural Directorate of the Municipality of Piraeus, invite the public on Saturday 19 July 2025 at 19:30 at the Municipal Library of Kontolianikon Kythera, to an evening dedicated to the historical and cultural route of the Kytheraic element from the island to the largest port of the country.
The event, which is under the auspices of the Municipality of Kythera, includes contributions by distinguished scientists and researchers, focusing on the cultural, social and administrative connection of Kythera with Piraeus.

Kaiti Aroni-Tsichli, professor emeritus of Panteion University, with the topic:
«Kythera and Kytherians through time» - a review of the identity and continuity of the Kytherian presence in history.
George N. Leontsinis, professor emeritus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, on the topic:
«Administrative affiliation of Kythera and Antikythera to the prefectures of Attikovoiotia, Attica and Piraeus, now the region of Attica and the Islands (1929 c.e.)» - a historical reference to the territorial and political integration of the island.
Koula Kasimati, professor emeritus of Panteion University, with the topic:
«Nikitas Tzannes, a Kytherian in Piraeus» - the contribution of the famous Kytherios to the life of the city.
Evangelia Bafouni, Dr. History, Director of Culture of D.P. Efstathios Delavaris, on the topic:
«Kythera 1852 - Piraeus 1932»
Calypso Michalakaki, Dr. Counsellor of Education, P.E. C' Athens, on the topic:
«Kytheraic community in Piraeus. Structure, Organization and Operation of the Kytheraic Brotherhood of Piraeus of Athens» - presentation of the history and the role of the Brotherhood as an institutional arm of the Kytherian community.
The event will be coordinated by Theodoros Koukoulis.
This initiative is an important bridge of knowledge and culture, highlighting the contribution of Kytheria to the development and cultural shaping of Piraeus, as well as the deep connection of the island's inhabitants with the capital and its port.
