The General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy (GSANP) announced the launch of the Programme for the Support of Pregnant Women and New Parents living on small islands of the territory, with a population of less than 3,000 permanent residents.
The aim of the project is to address the deficiencies in the field of primary health care during pregnancy and the beginning of parenthood in island regions of Greece. More specifically, the programme aims to strengthen young families and ensure equal perinatal care for prospective and new parents through the free provision, using a digital platform, of obstetric care - counselling, psychological support and psychiatric monitoring services.
The beneficiaries of the programme are:
a) pregnant women, lechonas, new mothers and new fathers, b) women and men undergoing IVF, c) people who have experienced perinatal loss (miscarriage, intrauterine or perinatal death), and reside on the islands:
Agathonisi, Agios Efstratios, Agistri, Amorgos, Anafi, Antikythera, Antiparos, Antipaxos, Arki, Astypalaea, Gavdos, Gali, Diapontian Islands, Donousa, Elafonisos, Herakleia, Thirassia, Thymena, Ithaca, Ios, Kalamos, Kasos, Kasos, Kastelorizo, Kastos, Kea, Kea, Kimolos, Koufonisia, Kythnos, Lipsi, Meganissi, Nisyros, Oenoussa, Paxos, Samothrace, Samothrace, Serifos, Sikinos, Sifnos, Skyros, Symi, Schinoussa, Tilos, Hydra, Folegandros, Fourni, Halki, Psara.
