Arson at Marfin: An anonymous email led to the two arrests

The woman is being sought in Britain. Two men have already been arrested, and an international arrest warrant has been issued for the woman in the United Kingdom — Chryssochoidis’s statement.

Information from an anonymous email sent to the Greek FBI has reignited the investigation into the deadly arson attack on Marfin in May 2010.

According to information from police sources, the email in question named as the perpetrators of the deadly attack the three individuals for whom arrest warrants were issued, as well as other individuals allegedly affiliated with the anti-authoritarian movement.

The information was deemed significant, and as a result, a new investigation was conducted into the case file as well as other case files in which the three individuals were implicated or mentioned.

Based on a comparison of this evidence, law enforcement authorities believe that the three individuals named in the case file (which is separate from the one involving Marfin) share the same characteristics (disguise details, etc.) as the perpetrators of the arson attack on the bank that resulted in the deaths of three employees.

The evidence was forwarded to the 3rd Regular Investigating Judge so that the case could be reopened and arrest warrants issued.

Two people have been arrested; a woman is also being sought

According to the police, two men have already been arrested in Greece, and an international arrest warrant has been issued for a woman who is in the United Kingdom.

Specifically, an investigation is currently underway by the Organized Crime Division, which took over the case after its establishment and has since identified the three defendants.

The DAOE provided a detailed report on the evidence that led to the issuance of arrest warrants and the arrest of the two 42-year-old men in Athens, while the 46-year-old woman, as it turned out, had left six years ago for the United Kingdom, where she resides permanently,

She is expected to be arrested by British authorities, who have been informed of the situation.

Chrysochoidis: «There can be no crime without justice»

«Our democracy is very strong and always prevails in the end. It does not prevail out of a desire for revenge. Its victories have to do with vindication and the administration of justice, which must always take place within the framework of the Constitution and the laws,» said Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis regarding the arrests.

«There can be no crime—the taking of a life—without justice being served. There can be no democracy without justice. And it is unthinkable that some people should have granted themselves a privilege to try to intimidate others. That is when democracy suffers a blow. »But democracy today, just as in the past—and even more so tomorrow—is strong and will prevail,” he adds.

«»This is our response to those unrepentant individuals—who ultimately become murderers—who attempt to carry out unlawful acts that take the lives of innocent people,”, he concludes.

What the victims' attorney said

«Redemption for the victims—we hope the case file is well-founded this time,» the victims' attorney said, among other things.
