The platform for the submission of applications for the «Chios Pass 2026» and «Kythira Pass 2026» tourist aid programmes is launched today, Thursday, May 14, 2026. According to an article published by Document, the schemes are offering digital holiday vouchers to a total of 6,600 lucky winners.

Amounts and Distribution of Vouchers

The programme concerns the issuance of intangible digital debit cards, which are intended for transactions in local accommodation, catering and transport businesses that have a physical POS in the respective municipalities.

  • Chios Pass 2026: Subsidy 300 euros (a total of 3,000 beneficiaries).

  • Kythira Pass 2026: Subsidy 250 euros (a total of 3,600 beneficiaries).

The two phases of the programme

Applicants can only apply for one of the two destinations. The final beneficiaries will be drawn by lot for one of the following periods (any unused funds from the first phase will be carried over to the second):

  • Phase 2 (September - October 2026): 1.500 cards for Chios and 1.800 for Kythera.

Who is eligible and who is excluded

All adult natural persons who are tax residents of Greece, based on their cleared income tax return for the tax year 2024, are eligible to participate. For married couples or parties to a civil partnership, the application is submitted by the person liable for the declaration (or one of the two in the case of a separate declaration).

They are not eligible to participate:

  1. Those who have been selected in the Social Tourism programmes of the DYPA for the periods 2025-2026 or 2026-2027, regardless of whether they have used the voucher or not.

  2. Those who are entitled to a related benefit from any other institution for the same period of time.

  3. Those who have declared Chios or Kythera as their main residence (in the 2024 declaration) cannot apply for the corresponding destination.

The programme is part of the governmental assistance and is implemented in cooperation with the Ministries of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, National Economy, Interior, Digital Governance and Tourism, aiming to boost domestic tourism and support the local communities of the two islands.
