The event was implemented by the UK & Ireland Tourist Office in cooperation with the specialist tour operator Olympic Holidays for Greece.
The aim of the event was to present Andros to British tour operators, as well as to inform the market about the development and expansion of Greek tourism products throughout the year. The event was attended by 18 tourism professionals with an interest in Greece, including representatives from Intele Travel, PH Travel, PH Travel, Not Just Travel, Guru Travel, Travel Counsellors, Fourways Travel and Sunshine Travel.
The Municipality of Andros was represented by the Councillor for Tourism, Nikolaos Moustakas, who together with the Head of the UK & Ireland E.O.T. Foreign Service, Eleni Skarveli, welcomed the participants and highlighted Andros as an authentic, alternative Cycladic destination, with emphasis on quality, nature and cultural heritage.
Andros was presented as a destination with significant potential for relaxation, exploration, cultural experiences, gastronomy and nature activities, making it an ideal choice for both short breaks and longer holidays in high or low season. Particular emphasis was placed on the unique characteristics of the island, such as the organized network of Andros Routes hiking trails, the stately Chora with its neoclassical and island architecture, the strong cultural identity with the reference point being the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation, the variety of beaches, the local gastronomy, as well as the easy access from Athens via Rafina.
The participants were introduced to the destination in an interactive way, through a knowledge game about Andros, which enhanced the active participation and interest of the guests. As part of the action, one lucky tour operator won a trip to Andros, courtesy of the Municipality of Andros and Aegean Airlines. At the same time, special mention was made of the important international distinction of Andros in the Greek Travel Awards, organized by the Hellenic Tourism Organisation in London in the framework of the WTM 2025 International Tourism Exhibition, where the island was highlighted by the British public as the top walking destination in Greece for 2025, confirming its potential in the field of nature and hiking tourism.
The participating tour operators expressed their enthusiasm for the discovery - for many of them - of a new Greek destination, while the positive response of the participants highlighted the strong interest in destinations that have not been altered by mass tourism. At the same time, an invitation was extended to everyone to visit the island in order to get to know the experiences it offers, its gastronomy and its rich cultural tradition.
The significant participation of tourism professionals confirmed that the event was an excellent opportunity to enhance the visibility of Andros in the British market and to launch new partnerships, while it is estimated that further enhancing communication and information will contribute to increasing the awareness and preference of the British public for the destination.
