The referral of the case of the now independent MEP Andreas Patsis to the Athens Prosecutor of Appeals and the Prosecutor of Economic Crime decided on Thursday (03/11) the Parliament's Committee on Ethics.
Indeed, it was also decided to lift the banking, tax and financial secrecy of the Member of Parliament, in order to thoroughly investigate its overall activity.
It was also decided to send the data of the audit to the Commissioner General of the State of the Court of Audit, for imputation and refund of revenues to the State if after the removal of the audit it is found that the auditee has been unjustly enriched.
Andreas Patsis - The announcement of the Parliament's Committee on Behaviour:
«The Committee for the Audit of the Statements of Assets and Liabilities held an extraordinary meeting today, 03/11/2022, on the audit of the Statements of Assets and Liabilities of MP Andreas Patsis, and decided:
- the referral of the case to the Athens Prosecutor of Appeals, for the findings so far
- the sending to the Prosecutor for Financial Crime of the cases for his own action
- the lifting of the banking, tax and stock exchange secrecy of the auditee, in order to thoroughly investigate his general activity, according to the publications, as well as the possible conclusion of contracts with the Greek State, in violation of Article 57 of the Constitution, and the sending of the relevant findings to the competent bodies, upon completion of the audit, after the lifting of the secrecy
- the sending to the Commissioner General of the State of the Court of Audit, the data of the audit, for the imputation of the repayment of amounts to the state, if after the removal it is established that the auditee has been unjustly enriched.»
