SPD: Tangible results and mutual respect bring unity and cohesion

The President of the EEA Mr. John Voutsinas after the completion of the Board of Directors Meeting of April 24, 2024 and the election of Mr. Markoulidakis to the position of First Vice President of the Board made the following statement:

«From the first day of my election to the position of President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce in 2018, my colleagues and I set a great goal: to work persistently and collectively for the common good, to defend the interests of our members and to strengthen the prestige of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce. A goal which as President I have served and will continue to serve on a daily basis.

Since then we have set goals and we have achieved them to a large extent:

- We have managed the finances of the ERC soundly and efficiently, building up a strong reserve to provide compensatory services and upgrade our services.

- We sanitized our Register of Members, removing chronic injustices.

- We have modernised our infrastructure and our procedures.

- We have strengthened our staff, we have participated in collaborative actions with social partners and productive bodies.

- We have designed and provided free of charge to our Members and to the whole local community a number of useful compensatory services.

- We represented through me the EEP in the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce by assuming both the position of Financial Supervisor and the position of Vice President, which I still hold today.

- We have been present in every necessary and possible mediation process with the central administration and the government, giving voice to our Members through our organisation.

But the most important thing is that through the common walk, dividing lines, personal ambitions and differences were put aside, reset by the will of all and finally we all became one fist, one team.

In this context, 3 years ago, the unopposed candidate in the 2018 elections for the position of President of the EEP, Mr.Leonidas Michas, took over as Second Vice President and through his institutional responsibilities and his general chamber and local government presence, he always contributes positively to the institution.

Even more now, taking advantage of the fact that the current First Vice President Mr. N. Papageorgiou, was appointed President of the New Metropolitan Attica SA of the Attica Region and representative of the EEP in the CECE, sharing the common goal of unity, resigned to be elected in his place, unanimously as First Vice President Mr. Kostas Markoulidakis, also an unopposed President in the 2018 elections. An active citizen and successful professional with a long experience in the Chamber institution, an excellent partner who has graced our Board of Directors for over 20 years.

The fact that 6 years after taking office, the former electoral rivals are today a fist, means that united and strong we move forward, higher to achieve the best possible and even more for our Members and the Chamber institution».
