They were arrested in the early morning hours of today, Friday (15/03) by police officers of the Narcotics Department of the Igoumenitsa Security Directorate, two Sergeants of the Narcotics Division of Igoumenitsa (41 and 50 years old) and a 41 year old man of Albanian origin, accused of violating drug legislation.
Specifically, in the context of the operation, the 41-year-old policeman was found to be driving a service vehicle with the other 41-year-old as a passenger and a stop signal was issued to carry out a check.
The driver, however, continued his course through the city of Igoumenitsa, not obeying the light and sound signals of the police and after a short while was immobilized due to a traffic accident.
In the subsequent check inside the vehicle were found and seized 19 packages of raw cannabis weighing 102 kilograms and 670 grams.
In fact, the police driver was on evening patrol duty, while it was found that his 50-year-old companion, who was also arrested after informing the competent prosecutor, was in a different place in Thesprotia and specifically in a cafeteria where his colleague had left him, having left his service pistol in the vehicle.
The accident caused material damage to three parked vehicles and the official vehicle. The arrested persons are being taken to the competent prosecuting authority, while how long these sworn police officers had been engaged in criminal activity is being investigated.
