Shock in Evros. Firefighters who were working to extinguish the fire in the Dasia forest came across charred bodies.
As announced by Fire Department spokesperson Yiannis Artopios, 18 human bodies were found at two different locations near a shack and within a forested area. They are most likely migrants. He noted that a 112 emergency call had been made in the area, adding that “the possibility that these are individuals who entered the country illegally is being investigated.”.
According to information from NEWS 24/7 and Kostas Koukoumakas, a team from the Fire Department’s investigative unit, and a medical examiner are currently traveling from the village of Avantas to the site where the bodies were found.
