The accuracy of supermarket shelves remains the big problem for the majority of households, with the latest data showing further increases in the prices of basic goods.The rally of price increases in basic consumer goods shows no sign of abating. According to the latest ELSTAT data, core inflation may have fallen to 2.8%, but at the same time food inflation continues on an upward trajectory, remaining at a double-digit rate of 11.6%.

According to the latest data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority, on an annual basis the biggest price increases observed on supermarket shelves were for dairy products and eggs 18%, 15.8% for oils and fats, 11.9% for meat, 11.1% for bread, 13.2% for coffee, 10.3% for sugar, chocolates and sweets, 12.9% for mineral water, soft drinks and juices and 14.2% for other foodstuffs.
The thorn in the side of the supermarket shelf is added to the canvas of the increased cost of living, creating an explosive mix for the average household.
At the same time, the market people express concern and concern about the onslaught of the price increase that does not show any signs of a substantial decline.
The president of EKPOIZO (Consumers' Union), speaking to libre, admits that price increases continue, albeit at a slower pace, in basic consumer goods. Panagiota Kalapotharakou explains that the increases on the shelf are reflected every month in basic categories such as flour dairy products and rice, soft drinks, ice cream, fresh fruit, cereals and detergents.
