The tourist traffic on the island of Rhodes is particularly impressive, which confirms the forecasts that this year's tourist season will be very good for Rhodes and the rest of the Dodecanese islands.
In April in particular, according to data announced yesterday by Fraport Greece, the airport «Diagoras» recorded an increase in tourist arrivals by 23% compared to last year.
The past month proved to be the best of all time, breaking both the record of 2022 and the record of 2019, which until last year was considered the best year.
Specifically, in April, 144,303 tourists came to Rhodes with charter flights, compared to 111,057 last year and 102,715 in the same month of 2019, recording an increase of 231.8% for 2022 and 28.8% for 2019.
This is a very positive development that had already been evident during the month with the large number of flights that had landed at Rhodes airport, but the double-digit increase in traffic was a welcome development.
According to the data, the first place was occupied by English tourists, while in second place, with a fairly large difference, were the Germans and in third place the Israeli tourists, who were the big surprise. French and Finnish tourists completed the top five.
In terms of the monthly report on the movement of tourists through Rhodes Airport, there is a double-digit increase as well, as according to the data 250,323 passengers were handled compared to 190,806 in April 2022 with the percentage reaching 31.2%.
Along with the increase in traffic on domestic routes, which was also at high levels, the final number of passengers that passed through Diagoras airport in April reached 317,844 passengers compared to 245,818 last year. The increase reached 29.3%.
