The Trifyllio Foundation of Kythira is pleased to announce that, with the publication on June 11 in the Government Gazette of Decision No. 11960/May 28, 2026, the «KASIMATEION» Nursing Home officially received state certification upon its registration in the Special Registry and the P.I.S.P.A. (Information System for the Certification and Evaluation of Private-Sector Nonprofit Social Care Service Providers and Voluntary Non-Governmental Organizations). The relevant efforts were initiated in early 2023 by the Foundation’s administrative services and were recently successful with the publication of the relevant Government Gazette Throughout these efforts, the Foundation received the full support and guidance of the competent Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, with Minister Domna Michailidou visiting the Nursing Home to personally observe the work carried out there over the years to improve the facilities and living conditions of the residents, and to acknowledge that the Nursing Home, despite having provided social care to the destitute and ailing elderly for fifty years, has never received any state funding. Initially, the Foundation benefits because it gains the ability to join the EOPYY, the National Strategic Reference Framework (ESPA), and the LEADER programs, as well as to receive regular and emergency funding from the state, especially for indigent residents, something that was not possible until now. Furthermore, it is officially recognized by the government as a provider of social care services, which enhances its credibility with donors, beneficiary families, etc., while also facilitating its collaboration with entities such as regional authorities, municipalities, EKKA, and social security funds. Certification also ensures that organizations, such as Trifyllio in this case, meet strict quality criteria, protecting beneficiaries and strengthening the state’s trust, while the organization is listed in official registries and directories, which aids in accountability and public image.
The Trifyllio Foundation extends its warmest thanks to Minister Domna Michailidou, Secretary General Megaritis, and the Ministry’s staff for their assistance. For this reason, a delegation from its Board of Directors visited the Ministry to express in person the gratitude of all Board members as well as the elderly residents of the Nursing Home, who will enjoy the benefits of the aforementioned certification. In addition, he would like to thank the entire staff of the Foundation for their services and for this specific effort, but above all our fellow countryman, Mr. Vasilis Kasimatis and the company Puzzle, who handled the relevant procedures and contributed greatly to the successful outcome of this matter, charging only a nominal fee.
The Board of Directors of Trifyllio continues its efforts to modernize the nursing home and hopes to soon be in a position to announce the launch of initiatives aimed at improving conditions on our island.
