It's been a little over five years since Thodoris Travasaros, a well-known postman of our island passed away after a long and serious battle for his health. Thodoris passed away at the age of 61, leaving behind a work of priceless folklore value, product exclusively from his favourite hobby, the video camera.
Ο Thodoris or else «TTV» as he was called by his neighbours, because of his small private television station that he had created in the early ‘90s, he immortalized with the lens of the video camera he always carried with him, most of the major events from the 1980s until a few years before his death, when his bad health adventure began.
A pleasant surprise for Tsirigotes and all the friends of our island came at the turn of the year, just before 2021. The family of Thodoris Travasaros created the channel TTV Kythera on YouTube and started the unloading of the rich archival material, following digitisation of the original videotapes.
Kythera.News congratulates and thanks the relatives who undertook such an initiative, as they return to the society of Kythera an important archive of historical, cultural and folklore value. With its digitization, the archive of Thodoris Travasaros will be an excellent means of linking younger generations with the recent past of our country and will shed light on the modern folklore aspects of Kythera.
We commemorate the work of Thodoris, we relay it with the means at our disposal and we wish his family to successfully complete the rescue and dissemination of this precious treasure.
