The weather conditions in Central Macedonia are in remission today, a few hours before the next wave of bad weather starts in the afternoon, with rain and snow, which will last until noon on Friday. According to the head of the Department of Civil Protection of the Region of Central Macedonia, Bampi Stergiadis, the process of restoration in areas affected in previous days by heavy rainfall is underway.
He told APE-MPE that «committees of engineers are visiting the areas of Central Macedonia where floods occurred, for state aid» and specifically «they are going to the prefecture of Pella to check the damage and start to draw up the statements for compensation». At the same time, he said, project machinery is carrying out restoration work from the floods in Skydra, Almopia and Giannitsa, as well as in Kilkis (in Griva and Kastaneri) and in Pieria (in Karitsa and Leptokarya). Clean-ups by the region are also taking place in Imathia at the Krassopoulou Stream.
