The celebrations in Kythera for the anniversary of the «OXI» of the Greek people against the invasion of fascist Italy in the mountains of Pindos, on the morning of October 28, 1940, culminated with a praise service in the holy church of Cruciferon in Chora and a service in Stai Square.
The praise service, which was presided over by His Eminence, Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythera, was attended by all the local dignitaries, institutions, clergy, security forces and a large number of people.
The solemn speech of the day was delivered by the teacher of the Lyceum, Maria Patsarika. This was followed by the playing of our national anthem by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Potamos Kythera, the laying of wreaths by the officials and student dances, in order to conclude the celebrations with the established student parade, in which all the youth took part.
And next year Kythera, and next year Greece.
Here is a rich photo reportage of the big day, as recorded by the camera of Kythera.News and Nikos Antonakis.
