The viability of the Technical Programme of the Attica Region, as denounced by “Power of Life”. This means that critical infrastructure projects in Attica, such as the redevelopment of the Faliriko Ormos, the Town Halls of Halandri and Agia Paraskevi, the Indoor Gymnasium of Nea Smyrni, a series of flood protection works in Piraeus and West Attica, the road safety and paving programme, etc.
The current Administration is leading the Region to a financial dead end, effectively nullifying the positive Financial Sustainability Index delivered by the Life Force Administration in September 2019. Within 32 months, the Index is now deeply in deficit, directly threatening the future of projects critical to the daily lives of citizens in the 66 municipalities of Attica.
According to a question submitted by the Group, this highly negative development is due to the shortfall in revenue from the Public Investment Programme in 2019 and 2020. Life Force had highlighted the problem during the debate on the 2022 Budget, when it documented that the Financial Sustainability Index is strongly negative, reaching minus 100 million euros on 30.11.2021.
Critical questions posed by the Power of Life to the Administration of the Region
Specifically, it asks the Patoulis Administration for clear answers, among others, to critical questions such as:
What is the value of the Sustainability Index, as defined above, at 31.12.2021? That is, what is the difference between Cash and the Undrawn Balance of the signed Performance Contracts at 31.12.2021?;
- Will it seek to transfer Technical Programme projects from its own resources to the Development and Resilience Fund? Have proposals been made to the Central Government in this regard? Which projects are concerned?;
- The projects that are currently maturing through studies that are being carried out and are critical to addressing the consequences of the climate crisis, such as the Flood Control Projects, how will they be funded?;
