The health condition of Filippos Fortomas, the New Democracy member of parliament for the Cyclades, is improving. He had been hospitalized and intubated with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit of the 251st General Air Force Hospital and was extubated at noon. His condition is considered stable.
Mr. Fortoamas had been vaccinated on May 6 and July 20 with the two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and, as he told his colleagues, he was planning to get his booster shot during the holidays.
He tested positive for the coronavirus on Christmas Day and was intubated yesterday, December 29. The 40-year-old member of parliament had no underlying health conditions. Wishes for a speedy recovery are being sent to Mr. Fortoma, and the Secretary of the Parliamentary Group, Ioannis Bougas, who posted a message wishing him a speedy return to their ranks as soon as possible.
