A tragedy occurred at dawn on the lines of the HSTAP at the height of Attiki station, between a special grinding machine and a passenger train (without passengers).
Three workers were injured and taken to hospital, one of whom, according to the HSCA, died.
The accident occurred on line 1 at 04:05 when the special grinding machine that had started from Kifissia had a brake failure resulting in it starting to move uncontrollably before finally colliding with another train, at the height of the station of Agios Nikolaos, which had been placed there by the competent service of STASY, in order to stop its course.
The trains are running locally between Omonia and Piraeus and Ano Patissia - Kifissia.

The management and the employees of STASY express their grief for the loss in the line of duty of a colleague of many years and a member of the family of fixed transport, in a statement.
The fatal injury of the foreman, a supervisor of Fixed Transport, occurred on Tuesday morning 16/11/2021, in an accident that occurred during grinding work on Line 1 of the Metro. As a result of the accident, two other workers, an employee of STASY and an employee of the Austrian company carrying out the work, were slightly injured.
An investigation into the exact causes of the accident is being carried out by STASY in cooperation with the authorities.
