The news of the 30-year-old's death has come as a shock soccer player of Macedonian, Nikos Tsoumanis in Thessaloniki.
The 30-year-old man was found inside his car this morning at the Nea Krini marina.
According to information from Voria.gr, his girlfriend had been looking for him since yesterday afternoon, as she hadn't been able to get in touch with him.
Early this morning, during a police patrol, his car was found at the marina in Nea Krini. When the police officers shone their flashlights into the car, they saw that the man had three zip ties around his neck.
Authorities are examining all possible scenarios surrounding the soccer player's death, including the possibility of a criminal act.
The journalist—sports reporter for metrosport.gr, Haris Dimaras, who broke the news, says he knew the soccer player and describes him as a man with a big heart. As he himself states, this year he played for Makedonikos, and as far as he is aware, he was not facing any problems.

He was a wonderful, kind young man who, unfortunately, met this tragic end. Reports indicate that he was part of a group of young players who played soccer without receiving any financial compensation. I think he had been facing serious problems lately, perhaps depression. Among those closest to him, some people must have noticed the immense pressure he was feeling. He was a child who »Lately, he had been keeping to himself and didn't open up easily. It seemed like something was bothering him.".
It is located at this point a team from the Homicide Division and medical examiner. A preliminary investigation into the tragic incident is being conducted by the Kalamaria Police Station.
Nikos Tsoumanis joined the team Macedonian this summer, while in the past he played for, among others, the Mars and Apollon Kalamaria.
