With environmental, economic and social stakeholders of the Municipal Unit of Voies had a meeting on Tuesday, July 27, in Neapolis, the MP of Laconia of SYRIZA-P.S. St. Arachovitis accompanied by a team of the N.E Laconia of SYRIZA P.S. consisting of Mr. Sofia Doumani, G. G. Gounalaki and Per. Mr. Sofia D. Doulakis, Mr. G. Doulakis, Mr. Per Lambrinos, Mr. Lambrinos.
They discussed the uncontrolled expansion of wind turbines in the area of the southeastern side of Laconia, on the peninsula of Malea, a few hours before the unanimous, negative opinion of the Regional Council of Peloponnese.
It is imperative to establish exclusion zones for wind turbines and to approve areas that, outside of wind potential, are not ecologically sensitive areas. And environmental studies must take into account the due assessment, i.e. the aggregation of impacts of those already installed and of applicants.
After analyzing all the data regarding the pressure that the natural and man-made environment of the Municipality of Monemvasia has been under, as well as the pending applications with the consequences they will bring, the MP and the team of the N.E. reaffirmed their positions, as they had expressed in their letter of 4.6.2021 in response to the memorandum of the stakeholders.
“During the SYRIZA government safety valves had been put in place for the necessary improvement of the country's energy mix, while at the same time providing absolute protection the natural and man-made cultural environment. We see these safeguards being torn down one by one by the current government of the Southwest, for the benefit of large economic interests.” Mr Arachovitis stressed among other things.
