The situation has gotten completely out of hand fire in the Municipality of Dorida in Phocis. Specifically, it began yesterday in the village of Elaia, proceeded toward Kallithea and Tolofona, and then on to the village of Agios Spyridonas, in the Gulf of Corinth. All four villages were evacuated as a precaution, and in three of them, the fire reached the houses. In Agios Spyridonas, they managed to stop the fire before it entered the village.
Shortly after midnight, a unified front was formed, which is now advancing toward Eratini and Panormos.
«The situation is desperate. The fire spreads wherever it wants, whenever it wants, and no one can stop it.», ," said Dorida Mayor George Kapentzonis.
Mr. Kapentzonis appealed to all sides to strengthen both ground and air forces, as he noted, «We’re fighting tooth and nail with whatever resources we can find, since many of them have been sent to Athens and Euboea.».
