Two fire planes and one helicopter Since early this morning, they have been dropping water over the fire which is burning a forested area in the region Vasilitsi of the Municipality Pylos-Nestor, in Messenia.
At the same time, a strong ground force—consisting of 65 firefighters with 18 vehicles and three foot patrols—continues to operate in order to, together with aerial resources, bring the fire under control.
In addition, volunteer firefighters, water trucks, and local government-owned heavy equipment assist the fire department in its work.
