Police sources speak of mistakes on the part of the perpetrators, in connection with the recent brutal crime in Sweet Waters, where 3 unknown hooded men, after breaking into a maisonette at about 04:30 in the morning of Tuesday, 11/05, brutally abused the young couple who were sleeping at that time, put a gun to the head of the 11-month-old baby and strangled the 20-year-old mother, before leaving, extracting a large sum of money.
Investigations by the best and most experienced police officers available to the Security of Attica to solve this heinous crime as soon as possible.
These are the Sub-Directorate for Crimes against Life and Property (YDEZI) and the teams set up by the 1st Department of Crimes against Life and the 2nd Department of Crimes against Property.
One team of «Homicide» is trying in time to find evidence that will explain the action of the three ruthless thugs, inside the house of the unfortunate family, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 11, at 10 Panagouli Street. Evidence of how the perpetrators went and escaped, if possible to find evidence of any previous surveillance and spotting of the place and as to all this are sought any eyewitnesses and closed-circuit materials, after that of the house and did not record anything due to disconnection of the recorder, but also broke the camera the perpetrators.
Also, findings have been collected and sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory analysis and possible identification with known consignments. At Homicide have a general idea of the offenders' physique from the description of the 33-year-old pilot and are also looking for any instances of matching body type. The results of the autopsy are awaited to give police officers a fuller picture of what the unfortunate victim suffered at their hands, with the hope that there may be genetic material of the perpetrators from the struggle that unfolded
The second group, the Property Crimes Department, on which the head officers of the Security Department also bet a lot, are looking for cases from the past, recent and distant past where the «modus operandi» of these ruthless criminals may fit, while at the same time they are looking for criminals, robbers and burglars with a violent history who may have been recently released from prison.
There is a frequency of burglaries in the wider area where this crime took place, which may not be unprecedented in modern Greek times, but it is certainly rare.
It is noted that the authorities are convinced that the amount of the loot of the perpetrators does not lead to the conclusion that there was some terrible preparation for their «hit». They believe that they were targeted recently and that it is possible that the offenders went in thinking that they might possibly find more loot than they actually grabbed and did not appear to be well acquainted with the premises of the house. Their belief that they might find more money was also shown by the fact that although the husband pointed out to them where their savings were hidden, they continued to search the house very intensely and persistently.
Finally, where the authorities are also betting heavily is in making it a real hell of a chance for the perpetrators to find shelter and feel safe. It is no coincidence, after all, that the government has decided to put a 300,000 euro bounty on the perpetrators, seeking any information that can be provided and bringing them to justice.
Specifically, yesterday, by a Joint Ministerial Decision of the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michael Chrysochoidis and the Deputy Minister of Finance, Theodore Skylakakis, a financial reward of EUR 300.000 was announced, to anyone who provides data and information to a competent authority that will lead, in the context of the ongoing investigations, to the arrest of the perpetrators of robbery after murder against the 20-year-old woman, committed inside her home in Glyka Nera Attica.
«We ask any citizen who knows anything relevant to contact the telephone numbers 210-6442694 and 210-6411111 of the Attica Security Directorate. It is noted that anonymity will be guaranteed for persons who will provide information and data to any authority and any third party,» the relevant announcement of the Ministry of Citizen Protection reads.
