A strong earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday in Crete, specifically in the Prefecture of Heraklion, 9 kilometers east of Miamou, Heraklion, with a focal depth estimated at 5 kilometers.
According to the latest update from the Geodynamic Institute, an aftershock was also recorded 3 kilometers away from the epicenter of what appears to be the main earthquake. The aftershock measured 2.7 on the Richter scale with a focal depth of 5 kilometers, 9 kilometers north-northeast of Miamous, Heraklion.
